Arrive 5-10 minutes ahead of class time
Take off shoes and leave them off of the practice area. Be prepared to practice in bare feet
Try not to eat a full meal before class. Give yourself about 2 hours for light-to-medium meals and 3+ hours for heavier meals. If you have low blood sugar and need a little snack beforehand, have a handful of nuts or a little fruit
Let the instructor know of any injuries, present or past. If in doubt, check with your doctor before practicing
Avoid chit-chat at the beginning of class. Many students take the first few minute to meditate or just relax - it's probably the one time in the day they have some peace and quiet
Have cell phones OFF (including vibrate mode)
If you must leave class early, inform the instructor before the class starts
Don't be hard on yourself. Try to not get frustrated with your body and respect your abilities. Just like any long term discipline, yoga requires patience, commitment and consistent effort
BREATHE, BE OPEN MINDED and ENJOY THE PROCESS
